Aerial Photos

We received these great aerial photos of St. Margarets 2010 Dedication Ceremony from Glady Holland (THANK YOU!) and would like to share them with you.  The views of the area are great, and you can see the cemetery in as it looked a year ago.

2011 Dedication Ceremony

Helen MacDonald reported that the Dedication Ceremony was a huge success with approximately 350 in attendance.

The Mass service was led by Bishop Greeco, who led the congregation to the cemetery after the service.  The Bishop bestowed an Episcopal blessing and reconsecrated the cemetery, blessing every gravestone in the cemetery.  The Bishop was supported by Father John Melena.  We were also honored to have Andy MacIntosh, of the Canadian Armed Forces, provide traditional bagpipe music.

CLICK on the photo to start a slideshow of the service.  Following the service, a social was held at the Parish Hall, with food, a 50/50 dray, and a slide show of the restoration.

PRE-RESTORATION VIDEO

As you watch this video, compare it with what you have seen in our restoration photos and you will be amazed at how far this restoration has progressed.  Can you see the ocean at all?  Now you can, but a few years ago, this cemetery was hidden in the wild brush.

MID-SUMMER 2011 UPDATE

July 30, 2011 - Hello everyone, we are very pleased to announce some major work and events.  On July 28, we hired a professional landscaper to remove a large area of dense brush and small trees, and there is now an unobstructed view of the ocean from the cemetery.  This landscaping achievement is credited to the vision and hard work of Jim Reggie MacDonald, who made the case for this work, and who organized and managed the work effort.  The initial comments of this work were overwhelmingly positive.  Pictures will be posted shortly.

On July 31, a dedication service for the cemetery was organized, with Bishop Greeco, from Charlottetown and Father John Melena to attend.  A large crowd is expected to attend a Mass Service, Cemetery Dedicaiton, and Parish Social event.
