January 18

work will soon begin on a book which will document the history of the cemetery.  The book will be prepared over the next six months and should be available in early Summer 2010.  As the book nears completion, we will provide updates and details on how you can order the book.  All proceeds will be used for the continued restoration and maintenance of the cemetery.

NOTE - WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU - We are collecting stories for the book.  If you have a story about the area, the cemetery, or someone buried in the cemetery, or photo, please email it to us.  We can't promise that it will end up in the book, but we are going to try and incorporate some stories into the book.  We are also taking submissions for the website, if you have anything that you'd like to share as well.

We regret to announce that Pat Malone, a core member of the team that helped to organize the restoration of the Pioneer Cemetery has passed away after a bout with pancreatic cancer, on January 3, 2010.

1942-2010

After a courageous battle with cancer, the death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home on Sunday, January 3, 2010 of Pat Malone, Charlottetown, age 67. Pat was the soul friend (Anam-Cara) of Ray; loving mother of Kim (Tracy Chastain), Raleigh, North Carolina; Carole, Toronto and Keir, Charlottetown. Loving Nana to Sean, Ashley and Alyssa Malone. Dear sister of Anne Kells (George), Charlottetown; Helen MacDonald (Jim), Souris; Joe MacDonald (Joanne), Mississauga and Dunstan MacDonald (Joyce), Winnipeg. Also survived by sisters-in-law Janet Malone CND, Charlottetown; Linda Cheverie (Carl), Calgary, Eileen Bell (Gordon), Calgary, Teresa McCabe, Charlottetown and brothers-in-law Dan Malone (Joanne), Stratford, and Jerry Malone (Sheila), Strathmore, AB.

Pat was predeceased by her parents Art and Mary MacDonald, Souris; brothers John F. (Jackie), Montreal and Jimmy, Souris. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, St. Margarets, and she was interred in the  St. Margaret of Scotland Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret of Scotland Pioneer Cemetery Fund or to PFLAG Canada.Charlottetown Hospital Nurses' Alumni.


UPDATE ON DONATIONS

January 18 - We have received over $1400 in donations for the Memorial Fund, and would like to thank everyone for their generous contributions.  These funds will be used for the continued restoration of the pioneer cemetery.
